Cotton wool balls

Plain cotton wool, in a bag rather than a jar, for pressure after a needle and for prep where a swab is more than you need. Bulk is the only sensible way to buy these.

What they are for

Pressure after a needle comes out, and prep where a saturated alcohol swab is more than the job needs. Plain cotton, nothing added, non-sterile.

Bulk is the only sensible way to buy these. A jar of fifty from a supermarket costs several times what the same cotton costs in a bag, and a bag lasts a clinic a month.

Everything on the box, before you buy.

The incumbents make you register to see a price. The batch and the expiry you are shipped are the ones printed here.

Questions about cotton wool balls

If yours is not here, the contact form routes to the person who can answer it.

Are these sterile?

No. Cotton wool balls are non-sterile. Where you need sterile, use a sterile gauze swab from a pouch.

Cotton balls or gauze for pressure after an injection?

Either works. Cotton is softer and cheaper, gauze sheds less and is the better choice on anything that is still open.
