Chlorhexidine in alcohol
Two antiseptics doing two different jobs in the same applicator. The alcohol acts fast and evaporates. The chlorhexidine keeps working after it has dried, which is why the combination is used where the site needs to stay clean for longer than the few seconds an alcohol swab covers.
It has to dry to work. Rushing the needle in while the site is still wet defeats both halves of it, and stings.
Swabstick or applicator
Swabsticks come in a sachet and suit a small site. A single use applicator holds more solution and is the better choice for a larger field where you want one pass rather than three.
